Golf Roundup 4-21-08: HCS inches closer to Agape League title

VICTORVILLE — Hesperia Christian’s Bobby Sole won medalist honors for the first time as the Patriots won Agape League golf match No. 10 on Monday at Green Tree Golf Course and put themselves in position to win the league title.

Sole shot a nine-hole score of 41, and Hesperia Christian teammates Tanner Helm and Jacob Arreola each shot 44 to tie for second.

The leading scores were some of the highest of the season; HCS coach Bob Catherwood said the greens at Green Tree haven’t completely healed after their recent aeration.

Hesperia Christian led the way with a team score of 228, while Victor Valley Christian shot 235 and Academy for Academic Excellence shot 256 for a season-best third-place finish.

Victor Valley Christian is 1.5 points behind the Patriots in the league standings heading into Match No. 11 on Thursday at Apple Valley Country Club. Hesperia Christian can clinch the league title with a victory.
