The Jackrabbits (9-7) held a slim 6-5 lead in the first set when Rebecca Hicks served five straight points to take control.
Rebecca’s sister, Raylynn, put Victor Valley ahead 13-8 by serving four straight points in the third set. Canyon Springs cut the lead to 15-12 before Amanda Aguilar all but put the match away with five service points in a row.
“Our serving really came through in a timely manner in all three games,” Victor Valley coach Jackson Wong said.
Aguilar finished the day with 10 service points, 10 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Raylynn Hicks served nine points and added seven digs and 31 assists. Marylynn Thomann had 16 kills and 12 digs, Laura Lopez served 10 points and had 10 digs, and Marlaina Pleydle added five kills and nine digs.
“We had a pretty all-round game today,” Wong said. “Everybody pitched in and that’s what we needed to win. We played really well today.”
