HCS wins boys, girls team titles

APPLE VALLEY — Hesperia Christian won both the boys and girls league titles at the first-ever Agape League cross country championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Academy for Academic Excellence.

The Patriots’ Kassie Martinez won the individual title in the girls race with a time of 23 minutes, 31 seconds and earned league MVP honors. Hesperia Christian had five of the top seven finishers on Tuesday.

Victor Valley’s Christian’s Nick Osborne (18:27) won the boys individual title and also took home the boys MVP honors.

Advancing to the postseason along with the Patriots will be Apple Valley Christian and Victor Valley Christian on the boys side and AAE on the girls side. The Knights were the only other school to field a full girls team.

Also going on to the postseason are Excelsior’s girls individuals Lana Litivin and Arriana Hagan. To qualify as an individual, a runner had to finish in the top six on Tuesday.
