Cougars’ Doucett advances in Hemet
Comments 0 | Recommend 0HEMET — Granite Hills senior B.J. Doucett overcame a case of strep throat to shoot an even-par 71 and place seventh out 86 golfers at the Landmark Course in Hemet on Monday at the CIF-Southern Section Individual Central Division semifinals.
‘It was a tough one,” Doucett said. “I didn’t think I was going to play because I had strep throat.”
Doucett is moving on to the CIF-SS Individual Finals/SCGA Qualifying on May 19 at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs. He advanced to the individual finals last year as well.
Doucett’s teammate Robbie Mamo, who carded a 74, is the only other High Desert golfer moving on.
Others that competed at the Central Division finals included: Apple Valley’s Alec Hutchason (85); Barstow’s John Pace (84); Granite Hills’ Harry Hutchison (86) and Alex Hill (89); Sultana’s Jarrod Brooksher (88); and Victor Valley’s Jake Lynch (84).
The top 30 from Monday advanced and a 76 ended up being the qualifying score needed to do so.
