VICTORVILLE — The Desert Sky League came from four points down in the High Desert Cup on Thursday afternoon at Green Tree Golf Course to beat the Mojave River League 12 1⁄2-11 1⁄2.

The High Desert Cup is an annual event in which 12 of the top golfers from the MRL and DSL compete against each other over 27 holes. The format of the first nine is best ball, followed by alternate shot then individual match play.

Granite Hills’ B.J. Doucett chipped in from 20 yards off the ninth hole for a birdie to match Sultana’s Jarrod Brooksher’s birdie putt on the same hole to finish their nine-hole match all square and help. Silverado’s Stephen Williams and Victor Valley’s Jack Sudathip had key victories as the DSL took 8 1⁄2 out of the possible 12 points in the individual match play.

Doucett also paired up with Granite Hills teammate Robbie Mamo to beat Brooksher and Rim of the World’s Reece Hutchins in best ball 5 and 3 and in alternate shot 2 and 1. Mamo also won his singles match.

The MRL jumped out to an 8-4 lead after the best ball and alternate shot matches. The teams of Sultana’s Brett Shaw and Hesperia’s Steve Barnett; Apple Valley’s Alec Hutchason and Rim of the World’s Drake Bialecki; Sultana’s Andrew Roche and Rim of the World’s Peter Goodwin; and Rim of the World’s Daniel Colvin and Sultana’s Blake Gentry each won two matches.

Shaw also won his individual singles match.
